The Ministry of Transport, through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, continues to oversee the post-incident handling of the fire aboard the passenger motor vessel KMP Putri Yasmin. As a demonstration of the state’s presence and a form of protection for the public, the ministry facilitated the handover of compensation and insurance guarantees to the victims and their heirs on Thursday (13/8/2026).

The compensation, disbursed by PT Jasa Raharja and PT Jasaraharja Putera, was handed over at the Brimob Dormitory in Ampenan, Mataram, one day after the incident occurred. The compensation was symbolically presented by the President Director of PT Jasa Raharja (Persero), M Awaluddin, to Agus Wahyu (46), the father of the late Indah Dwi Septiani (20), who died in the disaster.

The Head of the Lembar Class III Harbourmaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP), Syamsurizal, who accompanied the compensation handover procession, affirmed that the Ministry of Transport is committed to continuing to oversee the fulfilment of the rights of all victims, including those who died, those who were injured, and those who suffered material losses in the form of passenger vehicles.

"We from the Lembar Class III KSOP, together with all relevant stakeholders, continue to oversee and ensure that all victims’ rights, both death benefits for heirs and guarantees for medical treatment costs for the injured, can be distributed quickly and on target," Syamsurizal said in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday (13/8/2026).

Based on the data collected, he said, the death benefit distributed to the heirs of the deceased victim comes from two sources, totalling Rp 125 million, consisting of Jasa Raharja compensation of Rp 50 million and an additional Rp 75 million from Jasaraharja Putera.

Meanwhile, injured victims with severe, moderate, or minor injuries are provided with full medical treatment cost guarantees until they are declared recovered and return home.

In addition to life and health compensation, he continued, the Ministry of Transport, together with the insurance parties, also ensured that vehicles belonging to passengers still inside the KMP Putri Yasmin will receive replacement from Jasa Raharja’s insurance. Syamsurizal said the Ministry of Transport extends its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims and prays for the swift recovery of the injured.

"The government consistently urges all sea transport mode operators to continue prioritising shipping safety aspects," Syamsurizal said.
