The Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) has confirmed that pioneer transport services in remote, outermost, underdeveloped, and border (3TP) regions will continue to operate throughout 2026 to maintain connectivity and support local economies. Director General of Land Transport Aan Suhanan stated in Jakarta on Monday that the government remains committed to providing these services, which include road transport, goods transport, and ferry crossings. He noted that the services represent the state’s presence in ensuring access to affordable transportation for communities in these areas. For 2026, the Directorate General of Land Transport has established 313 pioneer road transport routes across 32 provinces, supported by 640 buses with a budget allocation of IDR 161.2 billion. The operational framework is set out in the Director General’s Decree Number KP-DRJD 5188 of 2025. Additionally, pioneer ferry services will continue to connect islands and regions lacking commercial alternatives, with routes established under Decree Number KP-DRJD 6697 of 2025. Aan specifically addressed services in East Nusa Tenggara, confirming that ferry operations there will continue with a budget ceiling of IDR 27.999 billion. He emphasised that the ministry is closely monitoring these services to ensure smooth mobility and sustained economic activity in the regions.
