Ministry of Transport confirms Rp10,000 integrated public transport fare still in effect
The Ministry of Transportation has stated that the Rp10,000 integrated public transport policy in DKI Jakarta remains in effect to facilitate public mobility with cheaper and more efficient travel costs.
Dedy Cahyadi, Secretary of the Directorate General of Transport Integration and Multimodal of the Ministry of Transportation, said that the Rp10,000 integrated fare policy implemented by the Jakarta Provincial Government is still active for public transport services managed by regional-owned enterprises.
“It is already running, and up to now, it continues to be implemented,” Dedy confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday.
The scheme integrates Mikrotrans, Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta services, allowing the public to transfer between modes within a single journey for a maximum fare of Rp10,000.
The integrated fare applies for three hours during the morning peak period, enabling commuters to utilise various modes of public transport more practically and economically.
“This means that if someone wants to commute to work within the DKI Jakarta area within a three-hour period, they can use various modes. Whether using MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, Transjakarta, or feeders including Mikrotrans, it is calculated at only Rp10,000,” he explained.
Through this policy, passengers can transfer from one mode to another without having to pay the full fare each time they change services, provided the time limit is met.
“It is cheaper and more efficient compared to using modes partially and separately. For example, compare the cost of using LRT Jakarta; a trip could easily cost Rp20,000, but with the integrated mode within a certain period, it is cheaper,” he said.
“The hope is that the public will use public transport from their residential areas to their workplaces within the DKI Jakarta area,” he added.
According to him, the integrated fare scheme is able to provide travel cost savings compared to using each mode separately, thereby increasing public interest in using public transport.
Payments are made using electronic money cards connected to the JakLingko system, allowing inter-modal transfers to be automatically recognised through the tap-in and tap-out mechanism.
As an example, a passenger from Bekasi can continue their journey using LRT Jakarta and then transfer to Transjakarta with a total maximum cost of Rp10,000, provided the time requirements are met.
The integrated fare policy has been in place since 2022 and continues to run as an effort to increase public transport usage while supporting mobility within the Jakarta region.
“The three-hour window is usually during the morning from 6:00 am to 9:00 am. So, if you want to experience it, use any electronic money card; if you depart at 6:00 am but change modes—for instance, from Bekasi via LRT to Dukuh Atas and then take Transjakarta to the city—as long as it is within three hours, the maximum is Rp10,000. It is already in effect,” he said.
