Ministry of Transport Arranges Temporary Closure of Bali Ferry Services During Nyepi 2026
Jakarta - The Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) is arranging a temporary closure of ferry services to and from Bali during the commemoration of Nyepi 2026 to honour the observance of the religious celebration and maintain public order, security, and smooth movement of citizens.
“In connection with Nyepi (2026), ferry services to and from Bali will be temporarily closed,” said Aan Suhanan, Director General of Land Transport at the Ministry of Transport, in Jakarta on Monday.
The Ministry of Transport has established ferry regulations during the celebration of the Balinese New Year (Nyepi) for Saka Year 1948. The arrangements have been put in place to honour the observance of Nyepi whilst ensuring mobility remains controlled, given that Nyepi 2026 falls closely to Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri.
The decision was signed by the Director General of Land Transport and the Director General of Maritime Transport at the Ministry of Transport, the Head of Traffic Police, and the Director General of Highways at the Ministry of Public Works.
Suhanan stated that various operational adjustments to ferry services will be implemented in accordance with provisions previously agreed upon in the joint decision.
“This measure is taken to honour the observance of Nyepi and ensure that ferry arrangements remain controlled given the timing is also close to Eid,” said Aan.
