Ministry of Transmigration: TEP Strengthens Access to Telecommunications and Clean Water in Lereh
The Ministry of Transmigration (Kementrans) has stated that the Patriot Expedition Team (TEP) is strengthening access to telecommunications and clean water in the Lereh Transmigration Area, Jayapura Regency, Papua, based on community needs identified in the field.
In an official statement received in Jakarta on Friday, the Ministry noted that the TEP Telecommunications Team from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) has mapped network constraint points and tested the installation of local signal boosters at the SP4 Auxiliary Health Centre.
“The solution we propose is to build an amplifier or expansion of the local network sourced from Telkomsel signals in areas with poor reception. In the second month, we tested this at the SP4 Auxiliary Health Centre,” said Aldo Gusti Rahman, a member of the ITB TEP Telecommunications Team.
Limited telecommunications networks in this mountainous topographical area have been one of the obstacles to healthcare services and community business development.
In addition to connectivity, the TEP is continuing the construction of piping networks so that clean water flow can reach locations closer to residential areas.
The Ministry of Transmigration noted that the issue of clean water access has persisted for decades, so the network development aims to make it easier for the community to meet their daily needs.
The Minister of Transmigration, Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, stated that the TEP approach is conducted by identifying community problems while providing solutions with measurable benefits.
