Ministry of Transmigration Prepares Patriot Expedition for 1,400 Participants This Year
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Transmigration M Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara stated that his ministry, together with 10 of Indonesia’s top universities, is preparing to open registrations for the Patriot Expedition Programme, targeting the involvement of 1,400 participants this year. He explained that participants in this year’s Patriot Expedition Team (TEP) are required to have completed their undergraduate (S1) degrees. This differs from the previous year’s implementation of TEP, which allowed active S1 students to join the programme. “Insha’Allah, this year we will reopen registrations to all S1 graduates who will join the 2026 Patriot Expedition Team,” said Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara in Jakarta on Wednesday. He noted that this requirement is due to several teams receiving assignments of up to one year in certain transmigration areas. Another difference in this edition of the Patriot Expedition is the number of transmigration areas involved. Iftitah stated that previous TEP participants were distributed to 154 transmigration areas in 2025, whereas this year they will only be sent to 52 transmigration areas. Additionally, he mentioned an increase in the number of participating national universities in this year’s Patriot Expedition, rising from seven to 10 universities. He listed the universities involved last year as Universitas Indonesia (UI), Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD), Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS).
