The Ministry of Transmigration (Kementrans) continues to expand collaboration with various parties to strengthen community empowerment in transmigration areas. One of the steps taken is exploring cooperation with PT Haeng Nam Sejahtera Indonesia (HSI), a ceramic and tableware manufacturer, through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

The Minister of Transmigration, M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, stated that Kementrans is currently focusing on improving the welfare of the transmigrant community. Such efforts are not only carried out through improving programme quality, but also by expanding the reach of community empowerment to create new economic ecosystems in the regions.

“We are currently focused on quantity, not just quality, so that more transmigrant communities benefit from various empowerment programmes,” said Minister Iftitah when receiving representatives from PT HSI at the ministry office on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Meanwhile, Design Development Manager at PT Haeng Nam Sejahtera Indonesia, Ellen, stated that the company is exploring CSR cooperation opportunities with the Ministry of Transmigration to support transmigrant community empowerment. According to her, the Kementrans commitment to improving the welfare of the transmigrant community was one reason the company was interested in collaborating.

“We feel honoured to meet directly and speak with the Minister. We see a commitment from the Ministry of Transmigration to improve the welfare of the transmigrant community,” Ellen said.

In the meeting, Minister Iftitah also expressed his hope that transmigrant communities in the future would be able to independently produce ceramic products and household equipment as part of regional economic development.

“One day I have a dream where transmigrants can produce products like this themselves. This could be part of economic development and community empowerment in transmigration areas,” he said.

Previously, in 2025, PT HSI distributed tableware assistance in the form of plates and mugs to transmigrant families in several transmigration areas. The assistance was distributed to Polewali Mandar with 100 packages, Sidrap 145 packages, Poso 50 packages, and Rempang with 5 packages.

Each assistance package contained eating utensils comprising eight plates and four mugs for each transmigrant family head. The assistance provided direct benefits to the household needs of communities in transmigration areas.

“Last year assistance was sent to several transmigration areas, such as Polewali Mandar with 100 packages, Sidrap with 145 packages, Poso with 50 packages, and Rempang with 5 packages. We express our gratitude for the concern and presence of PT HSI which has supported the transmigrant community,” Ellen explained.

For 2026, PT HSI also plans to continue its support through further assistance distribution. The company is targeting delivery of 1,094 assistance packages after Eid, with approximately 300 packages to be sent to the Rempang transmigration area in the near future.

The Ministry of Transmigration also opened the opportunity to invite PT HSI to directly visit transmigration areas so the company can see community development in the field whilst strengthening potential cooperation in the future.

Through this collaboration, the Ministry of Transmigration hopes that synergy between the government and private sector can further strengthen community empowerment programmes whilst opening opportunities for new economic development in transmigration areas.
