Ministry of Trade Requests Take Down of Thousands of Alcohol and Minyakita Ads on Marketplaces
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) has requested the removal of 2,639 electronic advertisements deemed non-compliant with regulations. The takedowns were conducted through cyber patrols across 21 e-commerce platforms up to March 2026. Accounts were found to have displayed non-compliant ads across three reporting periods. “Violations relate to the sale of regulated commodities: 1,731 alcohol ads; 514 hazardous materials; 124 refined sugar crystals; 10 subsidized fertiliser ads; 257 Minyakita ads; and three ads for measurement, weighing, and calibration equipment (UTTP),” said Budi in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. Budi added that the government is strengthening trade oversight via electronic systems (PMSE), with both online and offline monitoring. Enforcement actions include account takedowns, blacklisting, and temporary suspension of PMSE services. The entities involved include marketplaces, online retailers, classified ads platforms, daily deals sites, and individual traders. “As part of legal enforcement, Kemendag has issued 3,310 sanction letters to PMSE business actors across four reporting periods from Q4 2024 to Q3 2025,” Budi stated.
