Ministry of Trade Invites Businesses to Expand Export Markets
The Ministry of Trade held a socialisation event for the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026 on Tuesday (30/6) in Semarang, Central Java. During the event, the ministry invited businesses to utilise TEI 2026 as a trade promotion platform to expand access to export markets.
Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, stated that the ministry continuously encourages Indonesian businesses to leverage TEI to broaden their export markets. ‘TEI is not only a platform for promoting national superior products but also a means to build business networks and generate sustainable trade transactions,’ she said in a separate statement.
In his remarks, Director of Export Development for Services and Creative Products at the Ministry of Trade, Ari Satria, said that TEI 2026 is a strategic platform to connect Indonesian exporters and potential exporters with buyers from various countries. This opportunity must be optimised to generate trade contacts, trade contracts, and export realisation. ‘We invite all businesses and stakeholders in Central Java to make the most of the 41st TEI. Let us show that Indonesian products are not just present, but are superior and sought after by the global market,’ Ari stated.
Ari explained that the 41st TEI will take place on 14-18 October 2026 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Tangerang Regency, Banten, with the theme ‘The Ultimate Hub for Global Sourcing’. The theme reflects Indonesia’s readiness to become a global trade hub supported by quality, innovative national products that meet global standards.
This year, TEI will feature five product zones: Food, Beverage and Agriculture Products; Manufactured Products; Industrial Estate; Fashion & Craft; and Furniture & Home Decor. In addition to the exhibition, various supporting activities will be held, including business matching, business counselling, business forums, and the signing of trade agreements.
The Ministry of Trade is targeting the 41st TEI to be attended by more than 1,500 exhibitors, visited by 8,000 buyers from various countries, and 30,000 visitors. The transaction value is also targeted to reach USD 17.5 billion, an increase of approximately 6 percent compared to the previous target of USD 16.5 billion.
As of the end of June 2026, around 55 percent of the target number of exhibitors had registered. This achievement reflects the high interest of the business community in utilising TEI as a strategic platform to expand export markets, forge international business partnerships, and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian products in the global market.
According to Ari, optimism regarding the implementation of TEI is supported by Indonesia’s export performance, which continues to show a positive trend. Throughout 2025, Indonesia’s non-oil and gas exports reached USD 269.84 billion. Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2026, non-oil and gas exports reached USD 87.74 billion with a trade surplus of USD 5.64 billion. Indonesia has also recorded a trade surplus for 72 consecutive months.
