Ministry of Trade: CPO Reference Price Rises in October 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Trade has set the reference price (HR) for the Crude Palm Oil (CPO) commodity for the determination of export duties (BK) and export levies (PE) for the period of 1–31 October 2026 at 1,042.15 US dollars per metric tonne (MT).
This value represents an increase of 34.64 US dollars, or 3.44 per cent, from the CPO reference price for the 1–30 September 2026 period, which stood at 1,007.51 US dollars per MT.
“There has been an increase in the CPO reference price for the October 2026 period compared to the September 2026 period,” stated the Director General of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Tommy Andana, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
Referring to the prevailing Minister of Finance Regulations (PMK), the government will impose a CPO export duty of 178 US dollars per MT and a CPO export levy of 12.5 per cent of the reference price, amounting to 130.269 US dollars per MT for the October 2026 period.
The determination of the CPO export duty for October 2026 refers to Column Figure 9, Appendix Letter C of PMK Number 38 of 2024 in conjunction with PMK Number 68 of 2025. Meanwhile, the CPO export levy for October 2026 refers to Appendix Letter A of PMK Number 69 of 2025 in conjunction with PMK Number 9 of 2026.
Tommy explained that the CPO reference price was derived from the average prices during the period of 20 August to 19 September 2026, comprising the Indonesian CPO Exchange at 938.89 US dollars per MT, the Malaysian CPO Exchange at 1,145.42 US dollars per MT, and the Rotterdam CPO Port Price at 1,526.56 US dollars per MT.
Based on Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 35 of 2022, if the difference between the average prices from the three price sources exceeds 40 US dollars, the CPO reference price is calculated using the average of the two price sources that represent the median and the value closest to the median.
Consequently, the CPO reference price was sourced from the Malaysian CPO Exchange and the Indonesian CPO Exchange. Based on this calculation, the CPO reference price is set at 1,042.15 US dollars per MT.
Furthermore, branded and packaged refined, bleached, and deodorised (RBD) palm olein with a net weight of ≤ 25 kg will be subject to an export duty of 48 US dollars per MT.
This determination is stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Trade (Kepmendag) Number 1922 of 2026 regarding the List of Brands for Refined, Bleached, and Deodorised Palm Olein in Branded Packaging with a Net Weight of ≤ 25 Kg.
