Ministry of Tourism to Implement 2026 Tourism Safety Programme

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism will implement the 2026 Tourism Safety Programme across Indonesia to strengthen national destination security standards. “Our challenge is no longer limited to presenting beautiful destinations, but ensuring tourists receive safe, comfortable, and quality experiences. Safety issues have now become a crucial factor in tourism competitiveness,” said Deputy for Human Resources and Institutions at the Ministry of Tourism, Martini Mohamad Paham, in an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday. Martini conveyed that the tourism sector is undergoing a paradigm shift. Tourists now seek not only the beauty of destinations but also authentic, safe, and memorable experiences. This strategic step is also taken to ensure uniformity in safety procedures for tourists, while enhancing Indonesia’s tourism competitiveness on a global level. Martini emphasised that the success of this programme requires synergy and cross-sector collaboration, especially with provincial tourism offices as the main drivers at the local level. This training programme also serves as a forum for developing human resources who understand safety principles, occupational health, and environmental sustainability. Such efforts are expected to drive the professionalisation of tourism services while strengthening the positive image of Indonesian tourism as a safe and quality destination. The Ministry of Tourism is also organising the implementation of the programme from both technical and administrative aspects, so that every activity provides tangible benefits for destination development. “We want to ensure that every region is ready to implement this programme optimally, so that it directly impacts the improvement of quality and security of tourist destinations,” said Ika. The Ministry of Tourism is optimistic that through strengthening human resource capacity and solid collaboration between central and local governments, the 2026 Tourism Safety Programme can become an important foundation in realising competitive, sustainable Indonesian tourism that provides a sense of security for every tourist.
