Ministry of Tourism strengthens tourism polytechnics to develop competitive tourism human resources
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism is strengthening synergies among Tourism Polytechnics (Poltekpar) to produce outstanding and competitive tourism human resources (HR). “Strengthening tourism HR needs to be carried out comprehensively through policy alignment, adaptive governance, as well as improvements in the quality of education, research, and community service that are more applied and impactful,” said Deputy for Resources and Institutions of the Ministry of Tourism, Martini M. Paham, in an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday. Through the Tourism Polytechnics Coordination Meeting held in a hybrid format in Jakarta from 8 to 10 April 2026, Martini conveyed that the meeting serves as a strategic step to strengthen HR development synergies among Poltekpar. In this context, Poltekpar plays a strategic role as the locomotive of innovative, inclusive, and globally competitive vocational tourism education. This strengthening is carried out through policy alignment with industry needs, agile governance enhancement, as well as developing planning, research, and community service that are more applied and have real impact. “Collaboration with various parties needs to be expanded to strengthen synergies between education, industry, and economic empowerment. Through this coordination meeting, it is hoped that concrete, measurable, and implementable steps will emerge, by reducing administrative barriers and encouraging innovation with real impact,” she said. Several issues discussed include strengthening vocational education institutions, preparing the Strategic Plan (Renstra) for Poltekpar, organisational structuring and governance, strengthening international cooperation with Swisscontact, industry-based curriculum development, preparing guidelines for research and community service, and socialising Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 52 of 2025 on Lecturer Professions, Careers, and Salaries. “The Ministry of Tourism also discussed plans for cooperation with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs in developing tourism entrepreneurship. Poltekpar is encouraged to become an entrepreneurship hub through co-incubation, living labs, and business matching to produce innovative and competitive entrepreneurs,” she stated.
