Ministry of Tourism Strengthens Cross-Ministerial Collaboration in Developing Tourism
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) is strengthening the synchronization of measures and cross-ministerial/institutional collaboration in the development of thematic tourism to enhance Indonesia’s tourism competitiveness on the global stage through the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) on Tourism 2026.
The forum brought together representatives from a number of ministries/agencies to align perspectives, strengthen support, and integrate work programmes in building a sustainable and competitive tourism sector.
The Deputy for Investment Climate Development at the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Riyatno, said that foreign direct investment (FDI) and domestic investment (PMDN) in the tourism sector have shown a positive trend in recent years. In 2023 investment realisation reached Rp45.23 trillion, rising to Rp47.08 trillion in 2024, and jumping to Rp72.42 trillion in 2025.
He explained that the Investment Ministry/BKPM provides support through simplifying business licensing and offering a variety of incentive facilities. BKPM has also worked with Kemenpar on supervision to prevent breaches of tourism business licensing.
Regarding the implementation of the Indonesia Standard Classification of Business Fields (KBLI) 2025, BKPM together with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and BPS signed a joint circular stating that business actors need not worry as long as there is no change in business activities, and the government will automatically apply a conversion table to KBLI changes.
From the health sector, the Director of Referral Health Services Development at the Ministry of Health, Dr Yanti Herman, stressed the importance of strengthening flagship health services, which will positively impact the competitiveness of Indonesia’s tourist destinations, particularly through the development of health tourism.
She added that the integration of health tourism can be achieved through collaboration between flagship health services and tourism promotion and infrastructure, including the development of hospitals in the Destinasi Pariwisata Super Prioritas (DPSP) — Super Priority Tourism Destinations — improving the quality and safety of health facilities, support for accommodation and hospitality, strengthening regulations and visas, and the utilisation of Special Economic Zones (KEK).
Suyadi added that previously, the Minister of Youth and Sports invited Southeast Asian sports ministers in Bali and reached a deal to form the Asian Marathon Series.
From the cultural sector, the Director of Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture, Agus Widyatmoko, highlighted the importance of transforming the utilisation of cultural heritage from dead monuments to ‘living heritage’, which should be developed and leveraged as a culture-based tourism attraction.
Meanwhile, the Head of Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (BBTNGGP), Sadtata Noor Adirahmanta, stressed the need to shift the conservation paradigm from an exclusive approach to an inclusive one by involving local communities as part of the conservation ecosystem through community engagement.
