Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana confirmed the readiness of public facilities and tourist destinations at Prambanan Temple and Yogyakarta Tugu Station ahead of school holidays.

“Safety and comfort are top priorities for all tourism stakeholders, from transportation, tourist destinations, hotels, restaurants, to other supporting services, to ensure the public has an optimal travel experience,” Widiyanti said in a statement on Sunday.

During a visit to Yogyakarta on Saturday, 30 May, Widiyanti stressed that the visit was to ensure comfort, safety, and smooth services for tourists and transport users ahead of school holidays.

Field observations showed Prambanan Temple area was peaceful and crowded with tourists, a positive sign for tourist movement ahead of the school holiday season.

Inspection continued at Yogyakarta Tugu Station, a key railway hub connecting Yogyakarta to major cities across Java and a source of local pride.

Inspected facilities included services such as facial recognition systems at station entrances to speed up passenger boarding.

Widiyanti also praised the presence of local SMEs product displays facilitated by KAI Wisata as part of efforts to support community economic development through tourism and transport sectors.

“We appreciate the readiness of PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) and PT KAI Daop 6 for continuously innovating to provide safe, comfortable, and quality services for the public,” she said.

During the school holidays, the Ministry of Tourism also encourages the public to enjoy domestic travel through the “Liburan Cara Baru” campaign.

The campaign offers various travel options suited to modern family needs, including short escapes, educational trips for children, intercity road trips, village tourism exploration, and local cultural and culinary experiences.

Indonesia’s top destinations are promoted as family holiday choices, from Lake Toba, Borobudur Temple, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, to other attractions across regions.

Through the “Liburan Cara Baru” campaign, the Ministry of Tourism urges the public to view travel as a means to create new experiences, strengthen family bonds, and better appreciate Indonesia’s cultural richness and natural beauty.
