Ministry of Social Affairs to Report Shoe Procurement Case to Authorities if Violations Found
Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono has emphasised that no leniency will be shown to any officials found guilty of violations in the procurement process for the Sekolah Rakyat programme.
“If any aspects of legal violations are discovered, the handling will be referred to the law enforcement authorities according to their jurisdiction,” said Agus Jabo during a press conference on the procurement of Sekolah Rakyat student shoes, at the Kemensos office in Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
A special team led by Agus Jabo, comprising members from the Inspectorate General (Itjen) of Kemensos, is currently delving into the procurement of goods and services for Sekolah Rakyat, on the instructions of Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf.
Agus Jabo explained that the special team has conducted clarifications on the documents and mechanisms, as well as the team involved in the 2025 Sekolah Rakyat shoe procurement.
“Based on the results of the clarification on the goods and services procurement process, it was found that there was a large procurement volume, time limitations, and human resource constraints, thus there is potential for maladministration,” he revealed.
Agus Jabo stressed that Kemensos will not hesitate to impose sanctions if problems are indeed proven in that procurement process.
“The relevant parties will be held accountable according to applicable regulations and will be subject to disciplinary sanctions (for) the involved employees,” he asserted.
“I have temporarily relieved from their positions the Head of the Goods and Services Procurement Services Section as the Commitment Making Official in the General Secretariat work unit, and the Head of the Equipment and State Property Sub-Section,” clarified Saifullah.
Saifullah has tasked the Inspector General to continue the in-depth investigation, as well as to conduct evaluations and investigations into goods and services, particularly the Sekolah Rakyat shoes that have been widely discussed.
“Everything we have done is part of an evaluation to improve procurement in 2026,” he stated.
