Ministry of Social Affairs to Provide Comprehensive Support for Victims of Abuse in Pati

We have agreed to take steps to help all the victims and at the same time consider together all the students at the Islamic boarding school so that they can continue their education,” said Gus Ipul, in a written statement, Friday (15/5/2026).

According to him, the government stands with the victims and will provide comprehensive assistance to them.

“We all stand with the victims, we will work with the Regent to provide protection, rehabilitation and empowerment,” said Gus Ipul.

Regarding the continuation of education for the students, Gus Ipul said that the decision would be determined by the local government in coordination with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and related agencies.

“Basically, we want to ensure that our children can still access education, they can go to the safest, most comfortable and most feasible school,” said Gus Ipul.

Gus Ipul added that the government will also look at the condition and profile of the victims’ families before determining the next steps so that the assistance provided is in accordance with their needs.

“So, God willing, this will be considered together and we will provide assistance until it is completed,” said Gus Ipul.

On that occasion, Gus Ipul strongly condemned the sexual abuse and asked law enforcement officials to give the maximum punishment to the perpetrators.

“We strongly condemn the incident, we ask that the perpetrators be punished as severely as possible, for life if necessary, so that this becomes a lesson for all of us,” said Gus Ipul.

Similarly, the Acting Regent of Pati, Risma Ardhi Chandra, expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Social Affairs for handling the case of sexual abuse that occurred at the Ndolo Kusumo Islamic boarding school.

“I would like to thank the Minister for supporting us in our efforts to handle the case at Ndolo Kusumo. So that we can provide assistance to the victims more easily. The Minister also provided several programs for the victims,” said Risma.

Risma has also formed a special task force to handle the follow-up, in coordination with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Department of Education.
