Ministry of Social Affairs Strengthens Role of Student Families at People's High School OKU

Baturaja (ANTARA) - Sentra Budi Perkasa of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) is strengthening the role of student families at Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Atas (SRMA) 45 in Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU), South Sumatra, through the Goes To Sekolah Rakyat programme. Social Extensionist of Sentra Budi Perkasa Palembang, Luksor Pratama, in Baturaja on Tuesday, stated that this activity is a follow-up to the results of an assessment of vulnerable clusters. The activity not only focuses on aid distribution but emphasises strengthening the family role through educational approaches and empowerment. Various agendas have been arranged by Sentra Budi Perkasa as a technical implementing unit under the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Social Affairs, which focuses on social rehabilitation, disability empowerment, and protection of vulnerable groups for the students’ parents. He said the activity includes health checks and education, social counselling related to adolescent parenting, as well as understanding adolescent development dynamics and peer relations. Through this series of activities, it is hoped that parents will have a better understanding in accompanying their children during the dynamic teenage phase, while being able to create a supportive family environment. “The Goes To Sekolah Rakyat programme is expected to provide sustainable impact and encourage the involvement of various parties in strengthening family resilience and empowerment in the community,” he hoped. As part of the intervention, the programme also distributes Social Rehabilitation Assistance to 69 student parents who fall into the vulnerable cluster category. The aid provided includes 25 recipients of business ventures ranging from grocery stalls, food businesses, agriculture to livestock.
