Ministry of Social Affairs Signals Construction of People's School in Tulungagung

Tulungagung, East Java (ANTARA) - The Head of the Tulungagung Social Services Agency, Reni Prasetiawati Ika Septiwulan, stated on Saturday that the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has given a signal of approval for the construction of a People’s School in Tulungagung, East Java, in 2026. Reni said that the local government has prepared a plot of land measuring 5.2 hectares in a rice field area near Jepun Flats as the construction site. “The regency government is only preparing the land. The physical construction will be carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs,” she said. She explained that the proposal for the People’s School in Tulungagung experienced delays because the land submission was only made at the end of 2025, which impacted the implementation progress. “The Ministry of Social Affairs has conveyed orally that the construction will be carried out in 2026,” she said. Currently, the administrative and permitting processes are still ongoing. Related technical implementing units have also conducted surveys and measurements of the location to be used for the People’s School construction. Reni added that the People’s School will be intended for children from underprivileged families, particularly those in the first and second decile groups. “After the land stage is completed, we will prepare the next processes, including student registration,” she said. The Tulungagung Regency Government targets the realisation of the People’s School construction as soon as possible as an effort to expand educational access for the underprivileged community.
