Ministry of Social Affairs provides social rehabilitation assistance to parents of students at People's Schools in Serang
Serang—The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Sentra Galih Pakuan, has distributed Social Rehabilitation Assistance (Atensi) to parents of students at People’s Schools (SR) in Serang City, Banten, as part of efforts to strengthen family economic empowerment.
Dian Bulansari, head of Sentra Galih Pakuan, stated in Serang on Wednesday that the distribution of this assistance is part of a comprehensive programme to ensure the continuity of children’s education whilst promoting parental self-reliance.
Bulansari explained that the total assistance distributed in this first phase reached 144 million rupiah, consisting of 12 items for kitchen equipment and bedroom facilities, including mattresses, cupboards, stoves, and gas cylinders. The assistance was provided based on needs assessments conducted by supervisors from the Family Hope Programme (PKH).
In the second phase, planned for March, the Ministry of Social Affairs will distribute entrepreneurship assistance to 36 additional student parents with stimulus values ranging from 3 to 3.5 million rupiah per person.
“This entrepreneurship assistance is provided to those who already have nascent business ventures, such as goat and chicken farming, meatball businesses, and grocery trading, so their businesses can develop further,” stated Bulansari.
Meanwhile, Serang City Mayor Budi Rustandi expressed appreciation for central government support in strengthening facilities for disadvantaged residents. He affirmed that this assistance aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision to ensure all Indonesian children have access to quality education.
“This represents collaborative work between the central and local governments to support disadvantaged residents. Not only are the children’s schooling facilitated, but their parents are also encouraged towards economic self-reliance,” concluded Rustandi.
