Ministry of Social Affairs Distributes Rp76.6 Billion in Phase II Aid for Aceh Tamiang Disaster Victims
Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, has distributed compensation and Phase II aid to natural disaster victims in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province. Gus Ipul explained that government assistance extends beyond emergency measures to include community recovery, encompassing housing, the economy, and protection for heirs and severely injured victims, as provided to the people of Aceh Tamiang.
“Post-disaster social assistance continues to be distributed. There are no holidays; as soon as the data is available, we distribute it immediately,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Saturday (11/4/2026).
The statement was made as he distributed aid at the Aceh Tamiang Regency Regional Secretariat Office on Friday (10/4).
Furthermore, Gus Ipul stated that, on the instructions of President Prabowo Subianto, the government is providing various forms of aid to disaster victims. One of these is through the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos).
Kemensos has been tasked by Prabowo to distribute several types of aid, including logistical support such as public kitchens during emergencies.
Gus Ipul explained that during the recovery phase, Kemensos provides several types of assistance, including compensation for heirs of deceased victims amounting to Rp15 million per person.
“And there is also compensation for those with severe injuries of Rp5 million. Alhamdulillah, most of this has already been distributed,” he clarified.
The details of the Phase II aid distributed today consist of life guarantee assistance for 20,908 individuals totalling Rp28.225,800,000. Additionally, housing essentials assistance worth Rp17,823,000,000 for 5,941 family heads (KK), as well as socio-economic stimulus of Rp29,705,000,000 for 5,491 KK. Furthermore, compensation for 187 severely injured individuals totalling Rp935,000,000 was provided. Thus, the total Phase II aid distributed amounts to Rp76,688,800,000.
“Assistance for purchasing housing essentials assumes that homes may have been swept away by floods or affected by flooding, so we provide further help to buy housing essentials. Whether that is household furniture or perhaps kitchen needs and other items most needed by everyone. We call it housing essentials assistance of Rp3 million per KK,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the total value of Phase I aid already distributed to disaster victims in Aceh Tamiang reaches Rp128,499,300,000.
The breakdown includes life guarantee assistance for 47,638 individuals totalling Rp64,311,300,000, housing essentials assistance of Rp22,743,000,000 for 7,581 family heads (KK), and socio-economic stimulus worth Rp37,905,000,000 for 7,581 KK.
Additionally, there is heir compensation for 236 individuals totalling Rp3,540,000,000.
This aid and compensation represent the presence of the state in protecting and restoring the lives of disaster-affected residents. The total aid distributed so far amounts to Rp205,188,100,000.
“The total overall (aid) for Aceh Tamiang Regency from the Ministry of Social Affairs is Rp205,188,100,000,” he revealed.
Gus Ipul hopes that the community can make the best use of the aid. Because this assistance is provided by the government as an effort to restore the conditions of families affected by natural disasters.
“We hope that everyone truly utilises it to the best of their ability for urgent and basic needs. Try to use it as a starting point to open a business,” he said.
Gus Ipul added that the distributed aid is based on valid data that has been verified by the Regent along with elements of the Aceh Tamiang Regency Forkopimda.
He emphasised that accurate and precise data is very necessary so that aid distribution can be on target.
“So that’s why I apologise if it sometimes feels slow. Because we indeed need a selection process; we must not let this aid be received by those who are not entitled,” he said.
At the same location, Aceh Tamiang Regent Armia Fahmi stated that his side will continue to evaluate the data of aid recipients.
He affirmed that if there are still residents who have not received government aid, the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government will conduct further data collection more accurately so that they can receive aid in the next phase of distribution.
“The data will be collected again for the third wave. It will then be sent to the Minister of Social Affairs for distribution as we hope. The Aceh Tamiang Government is still continuing to collect data until all hydrometeorological disaster victims receive their rights fairly,” Fahmi revealed.
On the other hand, one of the aid recipients, Erhamna (45), expressed thanks for the government’s concern towards him and all the people of Aceh Tamiang.
“We, the entire people of Aceh Tamiang, express our thanks to Mr President Prabowo and thanks to the Minister of Social Affairs and the Regent of Aceh Tamiang for providing the aid we received today,” said Erhamna.
“Long live Mr President Prabowo! Long live the Minister of Social Affairs! Long live the Regent of Aceh Tamiang! Rise Aceh Tamiang!” he exclaimed.
