Ministry of Social Affairs Distributes Rp 54.57 Billion in Aid to Disaster Victims in Sumatra
The Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed aid totalling Rp 54.57 billion to disaster victims in Bireuen Regency, Pidie Jaya Regency, and Agam Regency on Friday (4/3). The distribution proceeded despite falling on a national holiday.
“(Even) on a holiday, we can meet in a hybrid format to provide disaster aid from the government to the families and relatives affected by disasters several months ago,” said Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) in a written statement on Friday (3/4/2026).
The breakdown of the aid distributed includes Rp 11.7 billion for Agam Regency, covering life guarantees (jadup) of Rp 11.06 billion for 8,195 beneficiaries (PM), second-stage heir benefits of Rp 120 million for 8 PM, and injury compensation of Rp 525 million for 105 PM.
In Pidie Jaya, aid of Rp 20.75 billion was given to 15,377 PM, while in Bireuen it reached Rp 22.1 billion for jadup for 16,374 PM.
“The total value is Rp 54,572,100,000. We will also distribute it in the next phase for housing contents and economic stimulus,” said Gus Ipul.
The Ministry of Social Affairs’ post-disaster aid package in the emergency phase includes heir benefits for deceased victims of Rp 15 million, severe injury compensation of Rp 5 million, housing contents aid of Rp 3 million per family, economic stimulus of Rp 5 million per family, and jadup of Rp 450,000 per person per month for three months.
Beneficiary data is sourced from BNPB, then verified by local governments, determined by regents/mayors, and endorsed by the Police Chief and Head of the District Prosecutor’s Office. The data is then processed by the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR), matched with Dukcapil data, validated by BPS, and signed by the Minister of Home Affairs as Chair of the PRR Task Force.
“The latest data has nearly 90,000 verified, with 75,000 signed by the Minister of Home Affairs. Perhaps next week it will be signed again. Insya Allah, it will reach around 90-100 thousand. With that, we can distribute it in stages,” explained Gus Ipul.
The aid distribution is carried out in collaboration with PT Pos Indonesia through three schemes: direct collection at Pos offices, distribution through communities at sub-district or village offices, and door-to-door services for the elderly and people with disabilities.
“What I know is that PT Pos continues to carry out its duties even on holidays. For that, I thank PT Pos. Even on holidays, as long as the data is ready and the amounts are prepared, they can open their offices to distribute to the beneficiaries,” said Gus Ipul.
Pidie Jaya Regent Sibral Malasyi expressed appreciation for the aid received by his region.
“We express our deepest thanks to the President of the Republic of Indonesia and to the Minister of Social Affairs for providing aid for jadup or stimulus that we have previously received, approximately Rp 241.6 billion. Alhamdulillah, with this aid, we have truly felt the benefits,” he said.
