The Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed Life Assurance (Jadup) aid worth Rp 3.12 billion to residents affected by flooding in Sawang Subdistrict, North Aceh Regency. The aid was given to 2,313 individuals or 625 family heads as a form of government support during the post-disaster recovery period.

The aid distribution was carried out symbolically by the Regent of North Aceh, Ismail A. Jalil, at the Sawang Subdistrict Office on Tuesday (17/3/2026). The aid targets residents in five villages, namely Blang Reuling, Blang Teurakan, Krueng Baro, Lagang, and Paya Rabo Timu, which were previously affected by the flood.

Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) emphasised that the life assurance aid is part of the government’s commitment to ensuring that the basic needs of the community are met during the recovery period.

“We hope this aid can ease the burden on the community, especially in meeting basic daily needs,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

He added that the Ministry of Social Affairs continues to ensure that aid distribution is carried out gradually and on target through verification and validation processes involving local governments.

Gus Ipul also appreciated the synergy of the local government in ensuring that survivor handling runs well.

“The aid provided is endeavoured to truly reach those entitled to it. Therefore, the process is carried out in stages from the village level, subdistrict, to being determined together with the local government,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the North Aceh Government, Muntasir Ramli, explained that the aid distribution was carried out after going through data verification and validation stages for prospective recipients.

He explained that the process began with proposals from the geuchik, continued to the camat, and finalised by the regent together with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).

The current distribution is the first phase and is ensured to proceed according to procedures so that the aid is on target. For residents who have not yet received aid, the government asks them to be patient as the recipient data is still in the ongoing verification process.

“Through this aid, the government hopes that the affected community can quickly rise and resume daily activities in a better manner,” he concluded.
