Ministry of Social Affairs Distributes Logistics Aid to Flood Victims in Pasuruan
The Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has distributed logistics aid to residents affected by flooding in Pasuruan Regency, East Java. The flood occurred on Tuesday (24/3) at 15:30 WIB due to high-intensity rain, which increased the flow of the Gembong River, causing it to overflow and inundate residential areas.
“Kemensos has distributed flood disaster aid in Pasuruan Regency, East Java. We will continue to monitor developments in the field and ensure that the needs of the affected residents are met,” stated the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos), Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), in a written statement on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
The distributed logistics aid includes 1,000 ready-to-eat meal packages, 1,000 ready-to-eat side dish packages, 200 family kits, 148 kids’ wear packages, 100 baby clothing packages, 45 children’s clothing packages, 34 adult clothing packages, 200 mattresses, 200 blankets, and 200 roll-up tents.
Furthermore, the aid was sent from the Soeharso Integrated Centre in Solo on Wednesday (25/3) to the Pasuruan Regency Social Services Office for subsequent distribution to flood-affected residents.
In addition to aid distribution, the Social Services Office (Dinsos) along with the Pasuruan Regency Disaster Response Cadre (Tagana) conducted rapid assessments and evaluations at the affected locations and coordinated with sub-district and village government officials to identify urgent resident needs.
A joint team consisting of the Social Services Office, Pasuruan Regency BPBD, police apparatus, Tagana, and other relevant parties also carried out resident evacuations, prioritising vulnerable groups to safe locations such as village halls and nearby offices.
Preliminary data records 3,898 households (KK) or 11,694 individuals affected by the flood in Beji Sub-district, covering Cangkring Malang Village with 1,804 KK (5,412 people), Kedung Ringin Village with 1,187 KK (3,561 people), Beji Village with 705 KK (2,115 people), Pagak Village with 120 KK (360 people), and Gajah Bendo Village with 82 KK (246 people).
As of now, data on the number of evacuees, evacuation locations, and material losses are still being compiled. There are no reports of fatalities or injuries.
The flood has inundated road access and residential areas with water levels ranging from 80 to 130 cm. Currently, moderate to heavy rain continues in Pasuruan Regency, and water still floods several residential areas with varying heights.
For information, flood handling involves various parties, including the East Java Provincial Social Services Office, Pasuruan Regency Social Services Office, Pasuruan Regency BPBD, TNI/Polri, local sub-district and village apparatus, Pasuruan Regency Tagana, and other related agencies.
