Serang (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), through Sentra Galih Pakuan, has distributed Asistensi Rehabilitasi Sosial (Atensi) assistance to 100 Keluarga Penerima Manfaat (KPM), consisting of the elderly (lansia), children, and people with disabilities in Serang City, Banten.

The Head of Sentra Galih Pakuan, Dian Bulansari, in Serang, Banten, on Tuesday, explained that the distribution of Atensi assistance heavily relies on data proposals from local governments (pemda), which are then verified and reassessed by the accompanying team.

“From around 500 proposals received, we conducted verification based on the DTKS (Data Tunggal Kesejahteraan Sosial) criteria for Deciles I to IV, and 247 individuals passed. Currently, 100 people are receiving it, but the process will continue to the next phase for the remaining approximately 147 individuals who meet the criteria,” said Dian.

“Earlier, we also symbolically handed over assistive devices such as wheelchairs for a child with Cerebral Palsy (CP) condition. We ensure there is no quota for companions; everything is based on real field needs data,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Mayor of Serang, Nur Agis Aulia, appreciated the assistance worth a total of Rp172 million directly allocated to vulnerable residents in the area. He hopes this stimulus aid can be utilised as best as possible by the recipients.

Furthermore, Agis emphasised that besides physical assistance, the Serang City Government (Pemkoy) is also focusing on the Sekolah Rakyat (SR) Programme as an effort to break the chain of poverty through education and economic empowerment pathways.

“Our hope is that poor communities can escape their conditions and become independent and empowered through various economic activities and ongoing mentoring,” said Nur Agis Aulia.
