Ministry of Social Affairs Distributes Aid to Disaster Victims in Bener Meriah
The Ministry of Social Affairs distributed living assistance (Jadup) to 4,611 people, or 1,242 families, affected by extreme weather in Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh Province. This first phase of aid, worth IDR 2.07 billion, is intended to help meet the basic needs of residents for 30 days.
The distribution took place from 16-22 February 2026 in ten affected sub-districts, namely Timang Gajah, Wih Pesam, Bukit, Gajah Putih, Pintu Rime Gayo, Bandar, Syiah Utama, Mesidah, Bener Kelipah, and Permata. The aid was handed over by the Directorate of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims (PSKBA) of the Ministry of Social Affairs to the Bener Meriah Regency Government and then distributed directly to residents in each sub-district.
Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) said that Jadup is provided so that affected families can still meet their daily needs when their economic activities are disrupted due to the disaster.
“After the disaster, many residents’ incomes are disrupted. This Jadup assistance is to ensure that their daily needs are still met during the recovery period,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Thursday (26/2/2026).
He said that the distribution of Jadup is part of the adaptive disaster social assistance distributed by the Ministry of Social Affairs in disaster-affected areas of Sumatra. The Jadup assistance is intended for 175,211 beneficiaries, amounting to IDR 450,000 per person per month for 3 months.
In addition to Jadup, the assistance includes logistics and public kitchen services, compensation for heirs of IDR 15 million per person, compensation for serious injuries of IDR 5 million per person, assistance for filling homes of IDR 3 million per family, and economic empowerment support of IDR 5 million per family.
Gus Ipul explained that the distribution of Jadup is carried out in stages after the beneficiaries are verified through the local government and the mechanism of the Task Force (Satgas) for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction after the Sumatra Disaster.
The distribution of Jadup in Bener Meriah is based on the Regent of Bener Meriah Decree on the Determination of Recipients of Home Filling Assistance, Living Assistance and Economic Empowerment for victims affected by extreme weather disasters in Bener Meriah Regency in 2025 Number: 360/25/SK/2026. This is part of the government’s efforts to support the socio-economic recovery of residents affected by disasters in the Aceh region.
“This has started the distribution process, because of course the beneficiaries must be verified to ensure that the assistance is targeted correctly. Starting from proposals from the local government and signed by the Minister of Home Affairs as the chairman of the task force,” Gus Ipul concluded.
For additional information, those present at the symbolic handover of the first phase of assistance included the Deputy Regent of Bener Meriah, H. Armia, the Regional Secretary Riswandika Putra, regional officials, and related elements at the sub-district level.
