The Handayani Social Welfare Centre of the Ministry of Social Affairs distributed Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) to support economic empowerment for 305 beneficiaries from the elderly and disabled groups in Pesawaran Regency, Lampung.

Head of the Handayani Centre at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Hisyam Cholil, said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday that the state’s presence through the ATENSI programme not only addresses basic needs but also aims to improve social functioning, accessibility, and economic independence so that beneficiaries can be empowered in their communities.

In total, 305 residents classified as Recipients of Social Welfare Services (PPKS) comprising the child cluster, disability cluster, and vulnerable groups received assistance tailored to the needs of each individual.

The assistance distributed includes securing a decent standard of living to meet basic needs, as well as providing assistive devices for people with disabilities and for children to improve accessibility and mobility.

“The total value of assistance distributed under the programme amounts to Rp472.6 million,” said Cholil.

He added that in addition to physical aid, the Handayani Centre also provides entrepreneurship support to several beneficiaries to ensure a sustainable source of income.

Recipient for entrepreneurship assistance includes one person from the child cluster to strengthen the family economy, eight people from the vulnerable groups cluster, and three people from the disability cluster with business start-up capital support such as selling basic groceries, running a repair workshop, and food and beverage businesses.
