Ministry of Social Affairs' Centre Provides Free Haircuts for Brebes Disaster Victims
The Ministry of Social Affairs, through Sentra Satria in Baturaden, provided Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) for victims of the land movement disaster at the Evacuation Post of Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Qur’an Al Munawir, Limbangan Hamlet, Sridadi Village, Sirampog District, Brebes Regency, on Monday (16/3/2026).
Various services were offered to the evacuees, including health examinations, physiotherapy, and haircutting services. The LDP team from Sentra Satria also engaged children in play by creating decorations from clay materials and provided spiritual guidance for the survivors.
The service activities involved 21 personnel divided into several teams, including haircutting, health services, physiotherapy, children’s play, and a field coordinator overseeing the operations at the evacuation site.
The atmosphere of togetherness was enhanced by a communal iftar between the evacuees, volunteers, and disaster response officials.
Head of Sentra Satria Baturaden, Darmanto, emphasised that the Ministry of Social Affairs continues to strive to provide optimal services for disaster-affected communities.
“The Ministry of Social Affairs is always there to provide social services to the community in any situation. May we all be healthy, happy, and blessed in observing the fast, even in the evacuation site,” said Darmanto in a written statement on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
Meanwhile, one evacuee, Masrifah Halimah (58), who has been staying at the post for a month with her extended family, expressed her joy at the activities.
“We are very happy to receive assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs. There are health facilities, haircuts, and earlier there were games for the children. Here, everyone from the men to the children was very enthusiastic about the haircuts,” she said.
The warmth of the atmosphere was further enhanced by servings of traditional Javanese herbal tea, Bir Jawa, a spice-based drink prepared by the Sentra Kreasi Atensi (SKA) Satria Baturaden team. This hot beverage became one of the iftar menus enjoyed by the evacuees as rain began to fall on the post approaching Maghrib time.
The Brebes Regency Social Service also appreciated the Ministry of Social Affairs’ steps in providing support for disaster-affected residents.
“It is very helpful because, in any case, they greatly need comfort to alleviate the psychological burden,” said Tarsono, representative of the Brebes Regency Social Service.
The activities served as a momentum to strengthen togetherness while providing moral support for the affected residents still at the evacuation site due to the land movement disaster in the area.
In addition to psychosocial support services, the Ministry of Social Affairs also provided tents and a public kitchen for the affected residents.
A total of 17 personnel from the Brebes Regency Disaster Alert Cadre (Tagana) were deployed to operate the public kitchen services since 12 March 2026.
One Tagana volunteer, Tanuhadin (40), said his team prepares around 150 to 200 portions of food daily for the evacuees.
During the Ramadan month, the public kitchen also prepares meals for suhoor and iftar.
“The togetherness in the midst of this Ramadan atmosphere is hoped to bring new spirit and hope for the affected residents. Even though they are in evacuation, the warmth of solidarity and care among fellow humans remains felt,” he concluded.
