Ministry of Social Affairs auctions 6.2 kg of gold to assist vulnerable families
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Social Affairs is conducting an open auction of assets comprising precious metals and gold jewellery weighing 6.2 kilograms, as well as hundreds of pearl jewellery valued at a total limit exceeding Rp10,176,929,000, the proceeds from which will be used to assist vulnerable families.
Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf in Jakarta, on Thursday, said that all valuable items are state property originating from Hadiah Tidak Tertebak (HTT) and Hadiah Tidak Diambil Pemenangnya (HTDP) from the penyelenggaraan Undian Gratis Berhadiah (UGB) since 2008.
“These items were collected in accordance with applicable regulations and handed over to Kemensos. The overall auction limit value is Rp10,176,929,000,” he said.
The Ministry reported that the total valuable commodities up for auction consist of precious metals amounting to 738 pieces weighing 3,230 grams, gold jewellery amounting to 832 pieces weighing 2,967 grams, and pearl jewellery comprising 756 pairs.
All funds raised from this open auction will be allocated entirely to financing various social welfare programmes, especially interventions for vulnerable and low-income families.
“The proceeds will be used entirely to help families in real need, whether for constructing housing to be more habitable or for business assistance to support them to become more economically independent,” he emphasised.
The auction process was opened transparently to the general public via an online scheme from 13 May to the closing on 25 May 2026 at 14:35 server time.
The auction briefing stage (aanwijzing) is scheduled to take place on Thursday (21/5) afternoon via the release of a virtual meeting application.
Saifullah hopes that the auction will attract many participants from the public so that the final sale value can exceed the base limit, thereby making the distribution of social assistance funds channelled to the regions more optimal.
