Ministry of SMEs prepares 500 MSMEs for incubation-based development
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is preparing around 500 MSMEs to receive comprehensive development and empowerment through incubation institutions.
Minister of MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman said the development covers various aspects, ranging from business licensing and legalisation to marketing access.
“So that they receive comprehensive development and empowerment, starting from licensing, legalisation, technology, production improvement, training, to marketing access,” Maman said in a ministry press release in Jakarta on Friday.
According to him, strengthening the role of incubation institutions is part of the government’s effort to build a more integrated entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Nevertheless, Maman said entrepreneurship development does not stop at training or incubation alone.
Business actors who have undergone the mentoring process also need continued access to financing, markets, technology, licensing, certification, and business partnerships.
The Ministry of MSMEs itself has held the North Sumatra Province Leading Entrepreneurs Exchange at the Auditorium of the University of North Sumatra (USU) in Medan on Thursday (20/8) as a bridge for incubated entrepreneurs to access financing, markets, technology, licensing, certification, and business partnerships.
Therefore, Maman said the Ministry of MSMEs is developing an entrepreneurship strengthening scheme through three stages.
Furthermore, business actors who are ready will be matched with prospective buyers, financing institutions, business partners, technology providers, as well as marketing and logistics networks through the Leading Entrepreneurs Exchange.
At the next stage, post-incubation mentoring will be strengthened through the SAPA UMKM programme.
According to Maman, the measure of success of the entrepreneurship programme is not only measured by the number of participants, but also by the realisation of financing, transactions, partnerships, opening of new markets, and business scale expansion.
Strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem is also part of efforts to achieve the national entrepreneurship ratio target of 3.6 percent by 2029 and 8 percent by 2045 as stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 38 of 2026 concerning National Entrepreneurship Development.
