The Easter celebration serves as a crucial moment to strengthen unity and cultivate love and hope in the lives of a diverse society, particularly in Papua.

Klemens Taran, Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Papua Province in Jayapura, stated that the resurrection of Christ is not only understood as an event of faith but also as a call to renew perspectives towards fellow human beings.

“Therefore, the values of Easter teach Christians to rise from various challenges, including divisions and prejudices that still occur in community life,” he said.

According to Klemens, the resurrection of Christ is an invitation for all to strengthen unity, nurture love, and bolster brotherhood in the land of Papua.

“Easter, commemorated on 5 April, becomes a moment of reflection for Christians to continue bringing hope in challenging situations. That hope is like light emerging from every darkness, capable of calming and strengthening the lives of the faithful in Papua,” he said, quoted on Sunday, 5 April 2026.

He also invited all Papuan communities, especially Christians, to make Easter a spirit of rising together in building harmonious lives. This is important so that values of tolerance, mutual respect, and togetherness can be continuously maintained.

“Diversity in Papua is a strength that must be nurtured with attitudes of mutual embracing and respect. In this way, a peaceful and harmonious life can be realised sustainably,” he added.

He further stated that all are called to cultivate love, maintain harmony, and build peaceful lives, both with fellow humans and with nature.
