The Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance (Ditjen Bimas Islam) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs has launched a series of programmes to welcome the Islamic New Year 1448 H, which falls on 16 June. Packaged under the ‘Peaceful Muharam 1448 H’ initiative, the programmes are designed to strengthen community welfare through spiritual, social, humanitarian, educational, economic, and environmental approaches. The launch took place during a Bimas Islam Talks event in Jakarta on Thursday (11/7/2026), featuring collaboration with Islamic philanthropic institutions.

Under the theme ‘Menebar Maslahat, Menguatkan Umat’ (Spreading Benefit, Strengthening the Community), the ministry seeks to manifest religious values through concrete actions that promote peace, care, and empowerment. The diverse range of activities targets various segments of society, including the younger generation, families, people with disabilities, and mosque communities.

The programme lineup includes the Bimas Islam Talks, a Muharam commemoration, a Gen Z Muharam event, a national 100,000 Khataman Al-Qur’an and prayer gathering, a Car Free Day Peaceful Muharam, a Lebaran Yatim and Disability celebration, a Nikah Fest and Islamic Wedding Expo, a SIGAP Mas CFD, an International Muharam Festival, Indonesia Berkiblat, MILFEST 1448 H, RECONNECT, a mosque cleaning movement, a national movement to abandon wastefulness (Israf and Tabdzir), Halal Goes to Campus, and a Halal Brands and Food Expo.

As part of the festivities, the Ditjen Bimas Islam will organise a mass wedding at the Smesco Exhibition Hall during the Nikah Fest and Islamic Wedding Expo on 27-28 June 2026. The event is conceptualised as a ‘One Stop Nikah Solution’, offering prospective couples services and education including ta’aruf sessions, marriage guidance, and a wedding exhibition. Interested couples must register through their local Religious Affairs Office (KUA) in the DKI Jakarta area by 23 June 2026, meet administrative requirements, and agree to have their marriage solemnised at a Jakarta KUA. Selected participants will represent the programme at the peak event on 27 June and will receive business capital assistance in accordance with the committee’s provisions, as well as become part of the Marriage Registration Awareness Movement (Gas Nikah).
