Ministry of Religious Affairs to Hold National Zikir and Prayer at Monas, Habib Syech to Attend

Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar has announced that the National Zikir and Prayer event at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta on Saturday (1/8/2026) is open to the public. He invited the community to enliven the activity, which is being held to welcome the month of Indonesia’s independence.

“Let us welcome the month of independence of the Republic of Indonesia by attending the National Zikir and Prayer with Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf and interfaith figures at Monas on Saturday (1/8/2026),” said Nasaruddin in Jakarta on Wednesday (29/7/2026).

The event is scheduled to take place from 17:00 to 21:30 WIB. The public can begin entering the Monas area from 15:00 WIB via security checkpoints.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Kamaruddin Amin, explained that the programme includes a guided zikir, a khataman of the Quran, Maghrib prayer in congregation, a hadrah performance, and Shalawat Kebangsaan with Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf. The event will also feature a recitation of the holy verses of the Quran by Muhammad Zian Fahrezi and conclude with an interfaith prayer for a sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia.
