Ministry of Religious Affairs NTT Distributes 2,040 Ramadhan Aid Packages to Eligible Recipients
Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) — The Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs for East Nusa Tenggara Province distributed 2,040 Ramadhan aid packages to eligible recipients through the Joyful Ramadhan 1447 H/2026 M initiative.
“This activity represents collaboration between the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the National Zakat Agency (Baznas), Islamic charitable institutions, and various community elements in strengthening social concern during the sacred month of Ramadhan,” said Head of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Office Fransiskus Kariyanto in Kupang on Friday.
The activity, which carried the theme “Indonesia Resilient—Recovering Together, Rising Together,” was specifically targeted at eligible recipients or individuals and groups entitled to receive zakat.
Fransiskus stated that Ramadhan represents an important opportunity to reinforce the spirit of sharing whilst strengthening humanitarian solidarity amongst the community.
“True goodness is not merely about what we possess, but about what we can give to others. When we share and help those in need, we are truly translating religious values into real life,” he said.
He also emphasised that East Nusa Tenggara Province is a region rich in ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and religious diversity. According to him, the harmonious and peaceful life of the community amid pluralism is a blessing from God that must be continually safeguarded together.
He invited the community to use the Ramadhan momentum as an opportunity to strengthen unity, consolidate harmony, and reaffirm the commitment to living together in a peaceful atmosphere in East Nusa Tenggara.
Beyond the distribution of aid to eligible recipients, the Joyful Ramadhan activity also included zakat literacy talks through the Blessing Assembly forum, which discussed the role of zakat in economic empowerment, as well as inter-faith iftar meals attended by community leaders, local officials, and aid recipients.
The activity was also accompanied by the presentation of zakat from civil servants of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Office as part of strengthening the Islamic philanthropy movement for community empowerment.
Meanwhile, Zakat and Waqf Advisor for the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Office H. Achmad Alkatiri explained that the programme forms part of the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ efforts to ensure the management of religious social funds is conducted in a targeted, transparent, and data-driven manner.
According to him, the utilisation of the National Unified Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) represents one of the strategic steps to ensure that zakat assistance and social benefits genuinely reach eligible communities.
He also expressed gratitude to all sponsors and parties that supported the implementation of the Joyful Ramadhan initiative.
