Ministry of Religious Affairs Inaugurates STAI Nurul Iman Bandung, Launches Three Study Programmes
The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has officially handed over the Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs regarding the establishment of the Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) Nurul Iman Bandung. With the issuance of this decree, STAI Nurul Iman Bandung officially becomes a Private Islamic Religious Higher Education Institution (PTKIS) under the guidance of the Directorate General of Islamic Education of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The handover of the decree was conducted by Ministry of Religious Affairs Expert Junisab Akbar and the Head of the Sub-directorate of Institutions and Cooperation of the Directorate of Islamic Religious Higher Education (PTKI) Ahmad Mahfud Arsyad to the Chairman of the Nurul Iman Bandung Islamic Boarding School Foundation, KH Khoiruddin, at the STAI Nurul Iman Bandung campus on Friday (31/7). The ceremony was also witnessed by the Chairman of STAI Nurul Iman Bandung, Hasan Basri.
Hasan Basri stated that the issuance of the decree marks a significant milestone for the development of Islamic religious higher education in Bandung. “We are very grateful for the issuance of this decree from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This marks the establishment of STAI Nurul Iman Bandung as a Private Islamic Religious Higher Education Institution under the supervision of the Directorate General of Islamic Education of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.
According to Hasan, this legality grants STAI Nurul Iman Bandung the authority to organise Islamic religious higher education in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. In its initial phase, STAI Nurul Iman Bandung is launching three undergraduate study programmes: Islamic Religious Education, Arabic Language Education, and Sharia Economics. These three programmes are expected to serve as a platform for the younger generation to develop academic and professional competencies with a global outlook, grounded in Islamic values.
Hasan added that the presence of STAI Nurul Imann Bandung is expected to expand public access to quality Islamic religious higher education, while serving as a centre for the development of science, research, and community service.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Nurul Iman Bandung Islamic Boarding School Foundation, KH Khoiruddin, stated that the establishment of STAI Nurul Iman Bandung is part of the foundation’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources through higher education. “With the official establishment of STAI Nurul Iman Bandung, the Nurul Iman Bandung Islamic Boarding School Foundation reaffirms its commitment to continue contributing to the improvement of Indonesia’s human resource quality through the provision of higher education that is excellent in knowledge and noble in character,” he said.
