Jakarta, VIVA – The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) will hold an Isbat session to determine the first day of Ramadan 1447 Hijri today, Tuesday, 17 February 2026.
According to information from Kemenag's official Instagram account, the Isbat session will be held at Hotel Borobudur in Central Jakarta. The session is divided into three parts.
First, a seminar on the position of the hilal (crescent moon) at 16:30 WIB. Second, the Isbat session itself at 18:30 WIB. Third, a press conference announcing the determination of 1 Ramadan 1447 Hijri at 19:05 WIB.
All proceedings of the Isbat session will be held openly and can be watched via the YouTube accounts of Bimas Islam TV and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The exception is the Isbat session itself, which will be held behind closed doors.
The Bureau of Public Relations and Communications of the Ministry of Religious Affairs noted that this Isbat session is different as it will not be held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs offices. The reason given is the need to accommodate a larger capacity.
"Referring to the letter from the Director of Islamic Affairs at the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance, in order to accommodate capacity requirements, the Isbat Session for the beginning of Ramadan 1447 H/2026 M has been relocated from the H.M. Rasjidi Auditorium at the Ministry of Religious Affairs building on Jl. MH Thamrin to Hotel Borobudur, Central Jakarta.
