Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister for Hajj and Umrah (Wamenhaj) Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak has assured that preparations for the 2026 Hajj are proceeding smoothly amid the escalation of conflict in the Middle East region.

“Alhamdulillah, up to today there are no obstacles in the preparations, either from the Indonesian side or the Saudi Arabian side. Insya Allah, the first departure of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims will begin on 22 April 2026,” said Wamenhaj Dahnil in his statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

During the start of his working visit to Saudi Arabia, his side has conducted various direct checks on Hajj operational readiness as well as coordination with Saudi authorities.

He emphasised that the government continues to strive to ensure all stages of the Hajj organisation run optimally to provide a sense of security and comfort for the pilgrims.

“We pray to Allah SWT that the 2026 Hajj organisation runs smoothly, safely, and comfortably for all pilgrims. We also ask for prayers from all Indonesian people so that this entire process is granted ease,” said Wamenhaj Dahnil.

On that occasion, he also stressed the importance of the Hajj pilgrimage as a symbol of world peace, especially amid ongoing global conflict dynamics.

“We hope that the escalation of conflict in the Middle East can subside, so that the Hajj can take place safely. Hajj carries a strong message about peace, human equality, and protection for vulnerable groups such as women and children,” he explained.

“Hajj must become an instrument to bring peace and safety for all humanity,” he added.

Wamenhaj also conveyed his support for the Indonesian government’s efforts in promoting world peace.

“We pray that the various efforts carried out by President Prabowo Subianto in building dialogue among world leaders can bring global peace,” he said.

In closing his statement, Wamenhaj Dahnil once again invited all of society to continue praying for the smooth running of the 2026 Hajj organisation.
