Ministry of Religious Affairs Distributes Thousands of School Supply Packages to Madrasah Students in NTT

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has distributed assistance in the form of 1,000 school kits and 16 Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) for madrasahs affected by the Flores earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Director General of Islamic Education, Amien Suyitno, said that disasters must not become a reason for children to lose their right to education.

“The government must be present to ensure they can continue to learn safely and properly, while also providing support to affected madrasahs,” he said in a statement on Sunday (23/8/2026).

He explained that preliminary data shows 72 madrasahs have been affected by the disaster. For the initial phase, assistance has been distributed to 15 madrasahs with the most severe damage.

He said that 16 TLS have been prepared as temporary learning spaces so that learning activities can continue. Meanwhile, 1,000 school kits have been distributed to support the learning needs of affected students.

Suyitno said that support for affected madrasahs is part of the government’s efforts to accelerate the recovery of educational services in disaster areas.

He stated that the assistance provided is expected to help madrasahs and students gradually resume learning activities.

“We want to ensure that affected madrasahs continue to receive support, especially in meeting learning needs. This assistance is expected to help madrasahs and students gradually resume educational activities,” he said.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs will continue to coordinate and map the needs of disaster-affected madrasahs as part of efforts to accelerate the recovery of educational services in NTT, while ensuring that the learning process can continue sustainably for students in affected areas.
