Ministry of Religious Affairs Accelerates PHTC Programme for Madrasah Revitalisation

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), together with the Ministry of Public Works and the Presidential Secretariat, is accelerating the implementation of the Hasil Tindak Cepat (PHTC) programme to improve the quality of Islamic educational facilities, particularly madrasahs. “We are fully committed to maximising this madrasah revitalisation programme. We will ensure the data is accurate and up to date,” said Kemenag Secretary General Kamaruddin Amin in a statement on Friday. The cross-sector collaboration is focused on ensuring equitable distribution of new-look madrasahs across the country. By July 2026, the acceleration of the PHTC will prioritise the Lombok region in West Nusa Tenggara. Specifically, Kemenag and the Ministry of Public Works are targeting four madrasah units within the Ar Rasyidi Penimbung Islamic Boarding School complex in Lombok as priority recipients of the revitalisation. “Going forward, the government is even planning to design an inclusive scheme by opening direct proposal submissions for revitalisation by educational units through regional offices or related teams,” Kamaruddin Amin said. Director of Madrasah Curriculum, Institutional Affairs, and Student Affairs, Nyanyu Khodijah, stated that of the 2,120 madrasahs proposed by Kemenag, 1,404 are currently being worked on by the Ministry of Public Works. Kemenag is also continuing to open opportunities for additional new madrasahs to be included in the PHTC Revitalisation target for the 2027 fiscal year. “A total of 853 madrasahs have already received benefits. Kemenag will continue to be proactive and collaborate to ensure that more madrasahs receive the benefits of this PHTC,” she said.
