Ministry of Religion to Distribute Two Million Zakat Fitrah Packages at Velodrome

JAKARTA — The Directorate General for Islamic Community Guidance of the Ministry of Religion will launch “THR” (Tebar Harapan Ramadhan), a programme to distribute two million zakat fitrah packages, at Velodrome in East Jakarta on 12 March 2026.

“On 12 March, we will carry out the Tebar Harapan Ramadhan programme, called THR,” said Director General of the Ministry of Religion’s Islamic Community Guidance Abu Rokhmad during a press conference at the Ministry of Religion’s headquarters in Central Jakarta on Monday, 9 March 2026.

“We will target the distribution of two million zakat fitrah packages for Indonesian families and hold an interfaith breaking of the fast. The venue will be at Velodrome in East Jakarta,” he explained.

In addition to the THR programme, the Directorate General for Islamic Community Guidance will also hold a state-level commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

“Tomorrow, a state-level commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an will be held at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. The Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, at approximately 7.30 pm Western Indonesian Time,” Abu said.

The Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration will be attended by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

He noted that the state-level Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration is held to strengthen devotion to the Qur’an as a guiding principle through reflection and religious discourse.

Abu expressed hope that this occasion would serve as a reminder to Muslims to read, understand, and implement the contents of the Qur’an for the benefit of the nation and state.

“This commemoration is expected to strengthen faith, morality, and unity by implementing the values of the Qur’an in daily life,” he said.
