Ministry of Public Works Swiftly Addresses Damage on Cikopo–Sadang Road

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has swiftly addressed the damage on the Cikopo–Sadang national road section in Purwakarta Regency, West Java, by carrying out repairs at 21 points following public complaints.

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo emphasised that in such conditions, the safety of road users is the top priority, while maintaining connectivity.

“Connectivity must be maintained, but the utmost priority is the safety of road users. Therefore, the handling is carried out swiftly while upholding the principle of prudence,” said Dody in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The handling was conducted by the Jakarta–West Java National Road Implementation Centre (BBPJN) as a quick response to ensure the safety and comfort of road users.

The repairs were carried out using the patching method with Hot Asphalt Mixture (CAP) at several damage points. This step is part of the Ministry of Public Works’ commitment to maintaining the stability of national roads.

Previously, during the 2026 Eid homecoming period, the condition of the Cikopo–Sadang road section was stable without potholes. This condition was achieved through temporary handling using the Salob method to support smooth traffic flow during the homecoming period.

However, high rainfall and extreme weather conditions in recent times have caused several points of damage to reappear on the road surface.

The Ministry of Public Works continues to conduct regular monitoring of road conditions, particularly on sections with high traffic volumes and vulnerability to damage due to weather factors.

The public is also urged to remain cautious while driving, especially in rainy weather conditions, and to report road infrastructure damage through official complaint channels so that it can be followed up immediately.
