Ministry of Public Works Raided, Cabinet Secretary Teddy: Feel Free to Investigate, We Are Open to the Law
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya commented on the raid of the Ministry of Public Works office by the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday, 9 April 2026. He emphasised that the government is open to legal matters. President Prabowo Subianto, he said, also permits the examination of any parties proven guilty. “We are open to the law, including what Mr President often says: anyone who is guilty and if proven, they should be investigated, including coming in and out,” Teddy told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday, 10 April 2026. Even the day before the raid, Teddy confirmed that the Minister of Public Works had visited his office. “And the night before, coincidentally, the Minister of Public Works came to my place,” he said. Previously reported, the investigative team from the Jakarta Special Region High Prosecutor’s Office moved quickly to probe alleged corruption within the Ministry of Public Works. Several important rooms in the ministry building were raided on Thursday, 9 April 2026. The raid took place at the Building of the Directorate General of Water Resources and the Directorate General of Human Settlements. Even the offices of high-ranking officials such as the Director General of Water Resources and the Director General of Human Settlements were targeted. “This step is part of the investigation into alleged criminal acts of corruption in several activities in the 2023-2024 Fiscal Year. The raid action was carried out based on the Investigation Order Letter No: PRINT-09/M.1/Fd.1/04/2026 dated 3 April 2026 and the Search Order Letter No: PRINT-28/M.1/Fd.1/04/2026 dated 9 April 2026,” said the Head of the Public Information Section of the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office, Dapot Dariarma. In the process, investigators combed through several rooms suspected to be related to the case. From the raid results, the team successfully secured various important items. The evidence seized included documents and electronic devices suspected to be related to the case being investigated. Subsequently, all those items will be examined and explored further to strengthen the proof in the investigation stage. The DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office emphasised that the handling of this case will be carried out professionally, transparently, and accountably in accordance with applicable legal provisions. “The prosecutor’s office also ensures that it will continue to provide updates on this case to the public as a form of information openness,” he added.
