Ministry of Public Works Pushes for Acceleration of People's School Phase II Construction
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is pushing for the acceleration of the People’s School Phase II construction so that all projects can be completed by June 2026, ready for use when the new academic year begins in July.
Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stressed that the People’s School construction is one of the government’s priority programmes in improving human resource quality through the provision of decent and modern educational facilities.
“The construction of all People’s Schools in Phase II must be ensured to be fully completed in June, before the new academic year starts in July,” said Dody in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The People’s School Phase II construction is being carried out in 104 locations spread across 32 provinces and 102 regencies/cities throughout Indonesia. This programme is targeted to have a capacity of up to 112,320 students in 3,744 learning groups.
He urged the acceleration of resolving various technical obstacles in the field, from construction access, material mobilisation, labour needs, and the readiness of supporting infrastructure to ensure all project construction stages can proceed according to target.
“Still prioritise quality in its construction, both in terms of materials and building structure, because this school building must be able to last to be utilised for at least 20 years,” he said.
The Ministry of Public Works is optimistic that the acceleration of the People’s School Phase II construction will expand access to quality education while supporting the equitable distribution of educational services in various regions.
