Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has prepared a number of strategies to ensure the smooth flow of mudik and balik Lebaran, particularly on the main routes expected to experience increased traffic volumes.

‘The main strategy we are implementing is to ensure all national roads are in robust condition, not pothole-ridden, and all roadside facilities in good condition so that travellers can pass safely and comfortably,’ said Roy Rizali Anwar, Director General of Bina Marga at the Ministry of Public Works, in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

He said the readiness of the national road network is also a major concern of the government ahead of mudik Lebaran.

According to him, the non-tol national road network spanning 47,603.39 kilometres is currently in a robust condition, with a maintenance/condition level reaching 93.5 percent. Meanwhile, the toll road network ready to serve mudik traffic covers 3,115.98 km across various regions of Indonesia.

To anticipate potential disruptions on mudik routes such as natural disasters or infrastructure damage, the Ministry of Public Works has prepared a Disaster Relief Unit (DRU) comprising heavy equipment, materials, and supporting personnel on standby in various regions, he continued.

A total of 1,461 units of equipment are prepared and distributed across Indonesia during the mudik standby period to speed up handling should disruptions occur on national roads. In addition, various emergency response materials such as Bailey bridges, bronjong (gabions), sandbags, cold mix asphalt, and other rapid repair materials have also been prepared.

He said the Ministry of Public Works also prepared 496 mudik posko spread across Indonesia to monitor road conditions and provide on-site technical support. The posko function as coordination hubs for monitoring traffic conditions and rapid response if disruptions occur on the mudik routes.

As a source of information for the public, the Ministry of Public Works provides the Microsite Informasi Jalur Lebaran which can be accessed via mudik.pu.go.id to obtain the latest information on the conditions of national roads and toll roads, bottlenecks or disasters, locations of mudik posko, and the available infrastructure services along the Lebaran 2026 mudik route.

Information services can also be accessed through monitoring apps provided by the Toll Road Authority (BUJT) such as Travoy by Jasa Marga and HK Toll Apps by Hutama Karya.

Additionally, the public can submit complaints related to the conditions of national and toll roads via the ‘Halo Pak Dody’ service channel accessible via the Minister of Public Works’ Instagram account @dody_hanggodo.

With the readiness of road infrastructure, support for toll tariff discounts, and various strategic steps, it is hoped that the Lebaran 2026 mudik and balik journeys can be conducted more smoothly, safely, and comfortably for the public.
