Ministry of Public Works: Infrastructure Must Be Utilisable by the Community
Bandarlampung (ANTARA) - Director of Operational and Maintenance Development (OP) of the Directorate General of Water Resources (SDA) of the Ministry of Public Works (PU), A Adi Umar Dani, emphasised that the Ministry of Public Works has instructed the acceleration of irrigation infrastructure work in Lampung by adding more workers. “I have instructed the addition of manpower so that the repairs can be completed more quickly. Our hope is that within two weeks at the latest, several sectors will be finished and can function again,” said Umar Dani during an inspection of the hanging irrigation network in Mesuji-Tulang Bawang, Lampung Province, on Sunday. He stated that this inspection not only focuses on the hanging irrigation network but also involves evaluating and repairing water pumps that are not yet performing optimally. “The problem turns out not to be only in the network but also in the water pumps that have already been built. We will analyse again what needs to be optimised so that the operational costs of the pumps can be more efficient and the benefits for farmers can be more maximal,” he said. The normalisation covers three villages, namely Wono Agung Village and Bumi Ratu Village in Tulang Bawang, as well as Bandar Anom Village in Mesuji. Currently, cleaning is being carried out on the primary channel, with the aim of maximising the available water discharge for farmers’ land,” he said. The Ministry of Public Works, he added, is committed to ensuring that the infrastructure that has been built can be optimally utilised by farmers in Mesuji and Tulang Bawang Regencies. “We are here to ensure that these repairs are being carried out. And currently, the Agency is also moving to carry out the repairs,” he said.
