Ministry of Public Works Does Not Implement WFH Scheme
JAKARTA - The Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, has emphasised that his ministry will not implement a Work From Home (WFH) scheme amid the government’s efforts to enhance work efficiency.
According to Dody, the nature of work at the Ministry of Public Works, which is directly linked to infrastructure development, makes the WFH policy difficult to apply. Additionally, the ministry plays a crucial role in disaster management.
Although not implementing WFH, Dody stated that they are still following President Prabowo Subianto’s directives to carry out work efficiency measures.
One of the steps taken is saving energy in the office environment.
Dody explained that after working hours end, electricity and air conditioning usage will be significantly reduced.
“So after five o’clock (17.00 WIB), we reduce electricity completely, and we reduce the AC. So for rooms that can use a fan, just use a fan, no need for AC,” said Dody.
He hopes that this step can still contribute to national efficiency, even without implementing WFH.
Dody added that conditions in various regions are the main reason for not applying WFH in the Ministry of Public Works environment.
He revealed that several areas, such as Sumatra, are still facing flood and landslide disasters that require direct handling in the field.
Given these conditions, Dody emphasised that direct presence in the field is irreplaceable, so the WFH policy is not implemented at the Ministry of Public Works.
