Ministry of Public Works Does Not Implement WFH Policy Every Friday, Here's Why
Because the Ministry of Public Works, in addition to building infrastructure, is also part of the main team during disasters, working together with BNPB, Basarnas, and BPBD. Therefore, we have decided not to implement WFH,” said Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo to reporters at the Ministry of Public Works office in South Jakarta on Friday (10/4/2026). Nevertheless, Dody mentioned other measures to achieve energy efficiency in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives. He stated that the Ministry of Public Works office would reduce energy usage after 5 PM. “What we are doing is, after 5 o’clock for example, we reduce the electricity usage significantly. We reduce the AC. So, for less intense cooling, we can use AB, Angin Berembus (natural breeze), just use the fan instead of AC,” he explained. He hopes this method can serve as the Ministry of Public Works’ strategy to help save energy amid geopolitical turmoil. Thus, energy efficiency is needed. “So, hopefully with this approach, even though we are not doing WFH, we can still provide efficiency to the nation and the state,” he added. As is known, the government is implementing the WFH policy as a step to save fuel amid the conflict in the Middle East. The prepared scheme allows employees to work from home (WFH) one day per week.
