Ministry of Public Works Constructs SPPG in Wirolegi to Support Nutrition Fulfilment Services
The synergy between central and regional governments continues to be strengthened. Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is preparing supporting infrastructure for community nutrition fulfilment services through the construction of a Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) facility in Wirolegi Ward, Jember Regency, East Java. Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stated that the Ministry’s role is as a supporter in building and preparing infrastructure facilities, especially in areas not yet reached by private partnerships, including in Java and 3T regions. The Ministry of PU is not involved in operational management. “The synergy between central and regional governments continues to be strengthened, including road access support from the airport to the Wirolegi SPPG location by the Jember Regency Government, to ensure smooth distribution and optimal implementation of the President’s priority programmes,” Dody said in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. The Wirolegi SPPG facility is designed as a centre for food production and distribution with a capacity to produce up to 3,000 portions (pax) per distribution cycle, with operational capacity adjustable to field service needs. This facility serves areas with a maximum distribution reach of about 30 minutes from the operational location, to maintain food quality as well as logistical and distribution service efficiency. In addition, the construction of this facility also provides economic impacts for the local community with a projection of absorbing around 50 operational workers. The land used is owned by the Regional Government and utilised through a borrow-use scheme for 5 years. The facility is equipped with various supporting infrastructures, including the main building, drinking water installation, wastewater treatment installation (IPAL), temporary waste storage site (TPS), and other operational support facilities. In the future, the management of this facility will be handed over to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to support community nutrition fulfilment service operations. The construction of infrastructure such as SPPG not only focuses on physical aspects but also plays a role in supporting improvements in the quality of basic community services, particularly in nutrition fulfilment and food distribution efficiency. With this infrastructure support, it is hoped that community nutrition fulfilment services can run more effectively and support the smooth implementation of government priority programmes in the food sector.
