Ministry of Public Works Completes 2 MBG Kitchens on Indonesia-Timor Leste Border

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has completed the construction of two Nutrition Fulfilment Service Centres (SPPG) to support the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Programme in the Indonesia-Timor Leste border region. The two MBG kitchens are located at the Wini Border Crossing Post (PLBN) and the Motamasin Border Crossing Post in Nusa Tenggara Timur. The SPPG at PLBN Wini was built on a plot of 1,408.63 square metres in North Central Timor Regency. Meanwhile, the SPPG at PLBN Motamasin stands on a plot of 1,469.12 square metres in Malaka Regency. This construction is part of the government’s efforts to extend basic services to border areas, while strengthening the function of PLBN as a service centre and economic driver for the local community. Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo stated that the MBG Programme is a strategic component of national development. “The MBG Programme is a mandate from President Prabowo Subianto to produce a healthy and intelligent Indonesian generation. This programme also boosts the local economy by involving farmers, fishermen, and SMEs. Thus, MBG is not only a social programme but also part of the national development strategy,” he said in a written statement on Sunday (19/4/2026). He added that the construction of these facilities is focused on areas with urgent nutritional service needs, including border regions. “This is a tangible form of the state’s presence in ensuring decent nutritional access, maintaining price stability, and guaranteeing food availability for border communities,” he further stated. The completion of the SPPG construction at PLBN Wini and Motamasin is expected to support the implementation of the MBG Programme, particularly for children in the border region. In addition to improving nutritional quality, these facilities are also expected to encourage local economic circulation. It is known that the construction of both SPPGs was carried out by the Ministry of Public Works through the Strategic Infrastructure Work Unit of Nusa Tenggara Timur, Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure, with PT Pembangunan Perumahan (Persero) Tbk as the executing contractor and PT Agrinas Jaladri Nusantara as the supervision consultant. Both SPPGs are equipped with main kitchen facilities, equipment and food washing areas, dry and wet storage warehouses, equipment storage rooms, parking areas, clean water networks, and Wastewater Treatment Installation (IPAL) to ensure hygiene standards and environmental sustainability. In addition, supporting infrastructure such as panel rooms, waste disposal sites (TPS), and landscape arrangements are also available. The Ministry of Public Works emphasises that infrastructure development in border areas is part of efforts to strengthen equitable development and improve community welfare. The existence of these SPPGs not only functions as nutritional service facilities but also as a symbol of the state’s presence in ensuring that every Indonesian child, including those in border regions, receives decent nutritional access.
