Ministry of Public Works Begins Implementation of P3TGAI 2026 Programme at 12,000 Locations

The programme serves as a vital instrument to ensure that the benefits of development are felt evenly across all strata of society.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has begun implementing the 2026 Fiscal Year Accelerated Improvement of Irrigation Water Use Programme (P3TGAI), which will be carried out at around 12,000 locations across Indonesia, while also opening recruitment for Community Support Workers (TPM) to support its execution.

Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo stated that labour-intensive programmes like P3TGAI play a crucial role in promoting equitable development while improving community welfare.

“This programme is an important instrument to ensure that the benefits of development can be felt evenly across all strata of society. By involving local residents in development, labour-intensive projects open up employment opportunities, reduce unemployment, and increase people’s purchasing power,” said Dody in his statement in Jakarta on Monday.

This labour-intensive programme is one of the government’s strategic instruments in strengthening national food security while creating jobs for communities in various regions.

“By directly involving the community, this programme not only produces beneficial infrastructure but also empowers the community to actively participate in development,” Dody added.

Through this scheme, development funds circulate directly at the village level while fostering a sense of ownership towards the built irrigation infrastructure.

Alongside the programme’s expansion in 2026, the need for TPM becomes crucial to ensure effective implementation in the field.

In addition, TPM also plays a role in maintaining the quality of work on-site, assisting in report preparation, and providing technical guidance to the community so that irrigation management becomes more efficient and sustainable.

One of the Ministry of Public Works’ technical implementing units, namely the Pompengan Jeneberang River Basin Organisation (BBWS), has opened online TPM registration from 2 April to 5 April 2026.

The selection process includes administrative stages, written tests, and interviews, with the final results announcement scheduled for 17 April 2026.

Through this programme, the Ministry of Public Works not only builds reliable irrigation infrastructure but also creates job opportunities, enhances community capacity, and strengthens the role of farmers in supporting national food security.
