The Ministry of Public Works has allocated Rp26.30 trillion for the construction of 100 Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools) units in Phase 3 next year. PLT. Director General of Strategic Infrastructure Kuswara stated during a hearing with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives that the allocation aligns with Presidential Instruction Number 8 of 2025. The funding will also cover a down payment for Phase 4, which involves a multi-year contract for another 100 units scheduled for 2027 to 2028. The Phase 3 development is a priority for the Ministry in 2027, forming part of the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and investing in long-term human resource development. Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo confirmed that Phase 2 buildings are expected to be functional by July 2026, with national progress currently at nearly 81 per cent. He acknowledged that global geopolitical tensions, specifically the US-Iran war, have caused increases in building material and fuel prices, slightly slowing the Phase 2 construction process. Despite this, he stressed that the ministry is working tirelessly to ensure completion and has already begun the tendering process for Phase 3, with seven locations in the first batch already under tender and 11 more in preparation.
